For those that do Facebook.
75% of Foilface made it to the same point in time and space for a few hours last night, this is what we came up with, Dunny tells me that it’s about Anglo-French relations, I reckon it sounds a bit like Liars.
It’s full title is Gateway Not Found Error 505, those of you who know what that means, well you’re one of two kinds of Wanker.
Slave Called Shiver: Pressure - Official Music Video
Believe it or not we actually managed to get this done in time for the album launch last weekend. I co-wrote it with Alicia Bankhofer from the band, Directed, shot and edited it myself. More info on the band can be found at http://www.slavecalledshiver.com
Acoustic Apathy
Today is the first day that I’ve felt like I’m wasting my time on acousticprogress.com, I was expecting this after a couple of weeks, up’s and down’s Rodney, up’s and down’s.
After we’d been to see Autechre in Hamburg we drove to Amsterdam to see them again. The Amsterdam show wasn’t as madcap thanks to the venue shutting the bar during the entire gig but we did have a wicked night out, we bumped into a nice young English chap called Alexis who took us to a bar called Maloe Melo, the guy in the picture is the owner and he seemed to stay open for an extra hour so we could get shitfaced, if you’re ever in Amsterdam and you’re in the mood for some stinky alternative rock banter you should show your face in the back room, it’s at Lijnbaansgracht 163 1016 VX not far from the excellent Melkweg venue.
Went to watch Autechre in Hamburg on Wednesday, as we were walking across the city, which is a fairly cool place as it happens, we spotted this evil looking old Nazi bunker. It turned out the gig was inside it which made the show pretty amazing, from what I can remember.
Sweeping statement time, Germans from Hamburg are very serious, I was told three times to please stop talking.
And just briefly, we found a brilliant little punk/metal bar across the road from the Nazi bunker with a bar football table and cheap beers and they we playing Slint records. Unfortunately we had to leave pretty sharpish because there was an angry Welshman in our party who wanted to fight everybody.
Shooting a gig tonight at the Moon and Sixpence in Glossop. Hopefully the first of a handful of promo-vids for local good-looking-talented-young-twats Rook and the Ravens. I’ve been meaning to get round to shooting something with them for ages, get yourself down to the Moon this evening if you fancy some acoustic Rookery, it should be off tha heezy yo.
It’s day 5 of http://acousticprogress.com, the traffic is already shaping up, the site ranks 1st on GSERP for my chosen keywords and I’m feeling pretty enthusiastic about the whole project. I’m more than a little concerned that I’ll run out of ideas before the year is up but that’s really what this project is about, finding new ideas and exploring other ways of approaching the acoustic guitar, to test myself and to keep the musical grey matter churning.
If you have any requests about what kind of thing you’d like to see me play then get in touch, I could even write a little ditty for your wedding/funeral/cats birthday.
Other than that, if you are following the project I’d appreciate you getting in touch to offer a little encouragement now and then, this will help keep me from slowly buckling up into a tight ball of paranoid misery, choking on the Black Bile of my own self loathing and ashamed of myself that I thought for one second anybody would be interested in my shitty, and frankly pathetic, piss-poor project. See?! Do you see now why you must contact me right away? Drop me an e-mail to paul.higham@gmail.com, follow @acousticguru or @paulhigham on twitter or leave a reply/send me a picture right here on tumblr. Byefornow.
